Match day 1: Quay Celtic 6 Rock Celtic 1.

A great crowd turned out to see our under 8s in action against Quay Celtic in Clancy park. Derek and myself would like to thank all the parents, family and friends for there support. The game started with Quay putting the pressure on Rock right from the kick off. It was a 1st half of good attacking from Quay and great defending from Rock. Quay took the lead early on and had most of the ball but Rock managed to score on the break with a good goal from Francis Lynch to even up the score at half time.In the second half Quays experience and possesion paid off as they scored 3 goals with Rock limited to the odd break. The game got more open as Rock looked to close the deficit. Rock were left exposed in defence near the end of the game and Quay took full advantage with 2 further goals in the closing minutes. Quay deserved the win but our under 8s showed a huge improvement from last season and they all enjoyed the game.

Match day 2: Rock Celtic 2 - 3 Quay Celtic

The return game against Quay was a closer affair with Rock getting the measure of their opponents with again great support for both teams. We had a squad of 18 players with everyone getting a game. The match started evenly enough until the referess awarded a penalty to Quay for handball which was converted. Rock responded with a goal from Sam Twibill to make it all square at half time. The second half started with Quay taking a goal advanatge to go 2-1 up in a very even match. Shortly after a contraversial decision not to award a penalty (this time to Rock) for a handball in the area Quay went 3-1 up. The Rock lads responded well however and got a deserved goal from Cian Loy to finish the game 2-3. A great game with Rock very unlucky not to get a draw. Well done to all of the players!

Match day 3: Setanta FC  0   V    Rock Celtic FC  6.

Saturday oct 13th 11.15. Whoop Whoop!

Our 1st Win, 5 matches played and we got our 1st victory against Setanta FC. Another sunny Saturday morning lead to a big number of supporters coming out to watch these 2 young teams in action. This was Setantas 1st ever competitive match and they had to defend from the off as Rock came at them. The goals came early too as Ben Cahill and Francis Lynch bagged 2 goals each, Ben and Francis ran the game in the 1st half with great individual and team performances. The pressure told at the end of the 1st half with a OG conceded by Setanta this left the score 0-5 at the break. Changes were made for the second half to give all players a part in the game. Setantas defence stepped up in the second half and reduced Rock to a few chances but Cian Foy broke free to secure a 6th goal which ended the scoring. The boys were delighted to get their 1st win as you can see from team photo. Derek and Myself would like to thank Majella and Setanta Juniors for organising the match and all the family and friends for their support.
