U10 Friendly: Malahide Utd 4-2 Rock Celtic

The U10’s travelled down to the fantastic facilities at Gannon Park, Malahide yesterday morning for a friendly “7 aside” game against a Malahide U10 team who are currently playing in the DDSL A league. The Rock lads played exceptionally well and did not look at all out of place against this top Dublin schoolboy’s team. After recovering from the shock of going 3-0 down inside the opening 10 minutes the Rock composed themselves, and played some excellant passing football. Josh Hanna got Rock’s first goal, a screamer from 30 yards. After winning the ball in midfield he side stepped a few opponents before unleashing a ferocious right foot strike. The keeper had no chance and it was just the confidence booster the Rock lads needed. The Rock’ second goal was every bit as good as the first – a defensive clearance from a Rock corner fell to Adam Hoban who struck a wonderful first time shot into the corner of the Malahide goal. Another screamer, the score 3-2 and the Dublin team were on the back foot. The Rock had two wonderful chances for an equaliser shortly afterwards when both Dara Quinn and Mark Gallagher went tantalizingly close to getting on the score sheet. Within seconds the Malahide lads put the game beyond doubt after great sequence of passing. A good experience for all of the team, Jack, Eoin, Adam, Jamie, Dara, Josh, Mark Leavy, Fiachra, Mark Gallagher, Steve and Sennan and a great way to blow away the holiday cobwebs!!
