FASTFIX U10 Division 1: Quay Athletic 0 -2 Rockville

On a wet and windy night in Clancy Park Rockville had their first match in two months against Quay Athletic. Rockville showed no signs of rustiness as they came out on top 2 nil in a hard fought encounter. In the first half the game ebbed and flowed, with neither side able to score on a difficult night. At half time Zak Alderdice came on as a sub and his introduction changed the game.
Zak’s passing and movement opened up the game and midway through the second half Rory McLoughlin scored a cracking left footed shot from the edge of the box. From then on it was one-way traffic with some great play from Rockville. Zak then scored a contender for goal of the year with a mazy dribble and fantastic finish from 10 yards. This was a great team performance from Barra, Killian, Conor, Zak, Rory, James, Adam, Fionn, Blake, Jai, Eddie, Luke and Ben.

St Dominics 1 – 1 Rockville
Having lost 5 nil against St Dominics in the first round of matches, Rockville were a little apprehensive as they lined up against the team on top of the table. However, after a rocky first 5 minutes, the away side settled into the game and soon found their rhythm. Jai, Conor, Ben and Eddie were very solid in defense while James Connolly in goals made several fantastic saves. Rockville also forced one or two fantastic saves from the St. Dominic’s keeper, when he saved brilliantly from a Barra Duffy free kick and well struck shots from both Zak and Rory. Rockville eventually broke the deadlock when James Lawrence slotted home a neat finish from inside the box. This seemed to rattle Dominics and Rockville looked the better team for the rest of the first half.
The second half saw Dominic’s improve, and they had Rockville under pressure for most of the half, eventually scoring a scrappy goal from close range. Rockville had several break-away chances of their own and Eddie, Zak and Barra were all very unlucky not to score. Best for Rockville were Blake, Jai and Ben, but this again was a great team performance. Congrats to Rockville who have now won 2, and drawn 2 from their last 4 games.
FASTFIX U11 Premier:
Sat 22 Feb: Rock Celtic 8-1 Ardee Celtic
It was business as usual earlier today in the FASTFIX U11 Premier as Rock Celtic knocked eight goals past third placed Ardee Celtic. With the weather causing havoc for the local league fixtures over the last month or so the Seasiders kept themselves sharp with a series of competitive friendlies against top Dublin sides Home Farm, Malahide Utd and St Josephs Boys. And it showed, as they went a goal up within the first minute of this game when Dara Quinn was the quickest to react to a loose ball within the penalty area. Striker Gavin Gilmore added two more goals in quick succession, the second of which he cooly slotted past the Ardee keeper. The away side worked hard to get themselves back in the game but there was no stopping the league leaders. After disposessing Ardee in central midelfied with a superb tackle, Josh Hanna then skipped past a number of Ardee players with ease before firing an unstoppable shot into the top corner. Ardee did manage to pull a goal back just before half time to give them something to play for.
The second half however was largely one way traffic with Rock creating chance after chance with some great passing football. The pick of the second half goals started with a great one-two move involving Dara Quinn and Steve Kamtchou in midfield and finished with an excellant volley from Quinn giving the keeper no chance. Kamtchou then added two goals of his own showing great strength and determination to get the better of the Ardee defence on both occassions. The final score of the day came from an superbly struck free kick by Rock’s Alex Gough, his first goal for the team this season.
The Rock defensive trio of Cillian Duffy, Layo Adebanjo and Eoin Byrne were very solid throughout the game while special mention must go to Rock’s Mark Leavy who swapped his usual striker role to deputise in goals for the absent Jack Donoghue. The win leaves Rock still five points clear at the top of the league.
