A PADDY Quinn double sent Rock Celtic a point ahead of Duleek at the top of the table with a game in hand as the seasiders completed the double over promoted OMP at the MDL Grounds.
Rock were short several regular players but it didn’t prevent them from dominating the first half against the home side. They spurned chances to have the points virtually sewn up at the break, instead turning around with a slender lead, given to them by Quinn with a great individual goal. He beat a number of players before slamming a shot from outside the box into the top of the net after 25 minutes.
The only real threat that OMP posed was from set pieces and it was from a corner that they equalised on the hour.
Rock rallied and Quinn grabbed the decisive goal in the final ten minutes. From a free kick on half-way Sean Waters won the ball in the air to find David Ward, who crossed for Quinn to steer his shot to the net. ROCK CELTIC: Damien McCrink, Conor McDonnell, Sean Waters, Paddy Reilly, Ciaran Clarke, David Ward, David McGeough (Ross Quigley), Paul Gore, Gerard McSorley, Paddy Quinn, Kevin McArdle (Chris Connolly).
